ABOUT ME
Hi there!
Nice to meet you! My name is Jennifer and I like to go by "Jen". I am a native Oklahoman. I have three amazing adult kiddos and two grandchildren. I care for my little fur babies; two dogs and a cat!
My interests are community enrichment, higher learning and FAITH! As a resident of Tulsa, I serve in ministry on a prayer team and as usher.
In my youth, I went through a lot of tough situations including anxiety and depression. I decided to start sharing my personal stories of overcoming hardships.
Years ago, I was invited to a Behavioral Health program that helped at-risk youth. I had not shared my story in front of a large crowd before. I remember being nervous and hoping people would not judge me based on what I had done in my past and on what I had overcome.
Thankfully, I had an amazing response afterward that brought much peace and set me on course to continue encouraging others.
I have been blessed with experience as a Lead Crisis Counselor, Prayer Partner, Site Coordinator, Police Dispatcher, Director of a Nonprofit, and more. I enjoy sharing about the challenges I overcame and the significant lessons learned.
Often, I wonder why I had to endure intense and unfair challenges in my life. I regret sometimes the mistakes I made that delayed my development and the impact I made on others.
As I read through my earlier writings in journals, I see how far I have come, and I try to inspire others to write in journals, too.
I believe there is hope for EVERYONE. As a result of being vulnerable and sharing my stories, several people came up to me after my presentations and hugged me. I have people who contact me telling me that my story inspired them.
I hope to inspire you and those who are important to you! Remember, you are important and your feelings matter.
Enrichment activities offered
journaling
Journaling helped me to capture my emotions and get them out. When a trusted friend, counselor or prayer partner isn't available, I write in my journal, and it gives me a sense of relief. Later, I can look back and see how far I have come since that time and I am often encouraged.
Bringing journals to my audience is something I love to do. I like to write a nice message in the journal to inspire them and let them know I believe in them. Businesses, Donors and Sponsors may contribute, and I can include a logo on the journal with a message.
